SAMPLEWORK / Visual Effects

Movia worked with Ogilvy & Mather (agency) and TV Zero (production co) in Rio de Janeiro to produce this 30 Second spot for Castrol GTX motor oil using 36 streaming HD cameras and recording directly to disk (three terabytes). The spot required shooting 100% of the film with our Movia 36 camera system and over 70% of it was shot on a moving car.

Using Movia's digital systems on this project allowed for the precise timing of the virtual camera movement to be decided entirely in post.

Requiring the shooting of over 36 hours of raw high definition digital footage, this film was broken down into 78 separate visual effects shots for editing.

Designs for rigs to hold the cameras are then drafted by the rigging crew.

The designs for the rigs are then modelled in 3D to produce previsualizations of the virtual camera movement.

The rigs are then built and fitted with Movia's digital cameras.

The "film" is then shot. In this case we shot with all of Movia's digital cameras
synchronously streaming into three Movia M1.15s digital disk recorders
(with three terabytes of recording / storage space) located in the camera car.

The "film", now consisting of over 36 hours of raw high definition digital footage, is then edited on the same three Movia M1.5s DDRs used to record it. This film was broken down into 78 separate visual effects shots for editing.

Each visual effects shot (in this case the entire "film") is then stabilized and color corrected, after which a final online edit is done to produce the finished television commercial.
